Summer

 Start with watercolor.
 Stencil dreamily in the heat.
Get out the acrylics, colored pencils, oil pastels.

Heat Wave

With record heat in Boston, and no air conditioning in my studio, work turns to what's portable.  Sketching in the kitchen. Stitching in the living room. Research at the library.

The blending and layering of color remains a mystery and a joy. Hot yellows, reds, purples, orange. Perhaps a cooling journey into greens later today?

Meanwhile, my Alzheimer's students finished their butterfly paintings, a two week project. I'm thinking they really need an art show at the local library:

Thank You Lettter

My students for Visual Journaling at the Arlington Center for the Arts this spring were a gift. Talented, creative, willing to take risks, they worked hard and took risks. I felt blessed.

For our last 30 minutes together, I passed pages from a 50s Girl Mystery, and invited them to try Found Poetry. Mine came out, in part, a thank you letter: "Unconscious amazement... don't know exactly what happened, but I seem to owe you thanks."
